Noblesville roofs are newer, and that changes the conversation

Most of the Hamilton County work we do is on houses built from the 1990s onward, so we are usually replacing the original builder-grade asphalt roof rather than the third one. The decking is generally sound and the framing is modern. These are some of the more straightforward metal installs we do.

What is not straightforward is the approval process. A large share of Noblesville is inside an HOA, and some associations have architectural guidelines written before metal roofing looked the way it does now — a few still read as though the only option is a barn panel. Get the color and profile approved in writing before anyone orders material. We supply the product data and color samples, and I would rather spend two weeks on that than have you fighting a board after the fact.

Hail is the real weather factor in central Indiana

The freeze-thaw problem that dominates up in Fort Wayne matters less here than hail and straight-line wind. Central Indiana catches spring storms that put enough hail down to total an asphalt roof, and a lot of Hamilton County roofs have already been through one insurance claim.

Here is the honest version: metal does not mean hail-proof. Larger stones can cosmetically dent a panel, particularly a flat one. What metal does is stay watertight after the storm — the dent is cosmetic, not a leak, whereas hail-bruised asphalt loses granules and starts the failure clock. Metal shingle and textured profiles hide denting better than a broad flat standing seam pan. Stone-coated hides it too, but I am cautious about that system because it manages water after it gets under the panel.

If you are coming off a hail claim, ask your carrier how they treat metal on renewal before you decide. Some are favorable and some are not.

Who this is not for in Noblesville

If you are in a starter home you expect to leave within a few years, put the insurance money toward good asphalt and keep the difference. Metal is a long-hold decision. One bad flashing or one cracked pipe boot on an otherwise sound roof is a repair, and we do not take repair calls.

If you are staying — and in the established parts of Noblesville plenty of people are — the question is whether you want to do this again in fifteen years. That is really all the decision is. Our Noblesville office is here in town.

“We also serve surrounding towns and rural communities throughout Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio, and Southern Michigan within roughly a 90-minute drive of our Fort Wayne and Noblesville offices.”

What we put on roofs around here

Installs from our own jobs. Which system suits a house depends on its pitch and its details, not on the town.
