Being straight about the distance first

Adrian is about an hour and three quarters from our Fort Wayne office, which puts it at the far edge of where we work. I would rather say that in the first paragraph than the last. We do take work here. We also think a contractor closer to Lenawee County is a legitimate thing to want, and if that matters more to you than metal-only and a transferable warranty, that is a fair decision.

What I see on Adrian roofs

The older parts of Adrian have the housing an older county seat usually has — two-story homes with steep pitches, dormers, valleys, and chimneys, and porch roofs at a lower slope than the main house. On those the failure point is almost never the field. It is the flashing. If the last roofer relied on caulk where a counterflashing belonged, that is what is leaking.

Metal suits these homes, but the labor is real. An interlocking metal shingle keeps the period look; standing seam takes the low-slope porch a shingle cannot. A quote that prices that house like a simple ranch is not being careful.

Outside town, Lenawee County is farm ground, and the barn already wears screw-down panel. Right roof for the barn. On the house, the washer under every screw is a wear item due around year ten to twelve, and I steer people to concealed fasteners. We do not install exposed fastener below a 4/12 pitch.

Winter here

Southeast Michigan gets a real winter without the heaviest lake-effect. Freeze and thaw at the eaves is what wears roofs out. Metal changes what backed-up water can get into; the membrane at the eave and the attic ventilation prevent the damage, and both belong in the conversation before the color does.

Who this is not for

Selling in a few years — asphalt is the rational choice. One leaking detail on a sound roof — that is a repair, we do not take repair calls, and a repair contractor is the right answer. Wants shingles again — a different contractor. Smallest number this year — asphalt wins.

One more honest line

We are licensed and in good standing in Michigan. The drive does not change the system or the warranty; it does change how quickly someone can be on site for a question mid-project, and you should weigh that. Now you have the context to decide.

“We also serve surrounding towns and rural communities throughout Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio, and Southern Michigan within roughly a 90-minute drive of our Fort Wayne and Noblesville offices.”

What we put on roofs around here

Installs from our own jobs. Which system suits a house depends on its pitch and its details, not on the town.
