Standing seam ·
A standing seam hip roof with skylights, from above
A winter pass over a finished charcoal standing seam roof on a ranch home: converging hips and valleys, two skylights and a brick chimney.
A one-story ranch with a hip roof, seen in winter with the trees bare. Charcoal standing seam panels run the length of each slope, and you can see the two skylights and the brick chimney along the ridge.
Skylights and chimneys are penetrations. On a standing seam roof each one gets its own flashing, and this is what they look like when that is done.
