Vicwest · Interlocking Metal Shingle Roofing

North Ridge Slate

True Nature interlocking steel slate shingle, 28 gauge, Quadra-Loc four-side lock.

How I think about this one

The same four-side lock with a slate face, and the other of the two Vicwest products we install. On a steep, cut-up roof it keeps water where it belongs better than an overlapping stone-coated tile does, and it weighs a fraction of real slate.

What it costs, and why

Installed, most North Ridge Slate roofs we put on land between $1,200–$1,650 per square. A square is 100 square feet of roof, and that figure includes tearing off one layer of shingles.

Where yours lands depends on the roof more than the product. A second layer to tear off, soft decking we only find once the old roof is open, a steep pitch, and a lot of valleys, dormers, chimneys and skylights all push it up. A simple, walkable roof with one layer sits near the low end.

This is a range, not a quote. I would not give you a real number without seeing the roof, and I would be careful with anyone who does. If the up-front number is the whole question, how a metal roof costs out over thirty years is the better place to start.

What Vicwest says about it

True Nature's North Ridge Slate metal roof shingles showcase a profile and shadow line that renders them nearly indistinguishable from actual slate tiles. Our innovative Quadra-Loc technology securely locks the shingles in place on all four sides, ensuring exceptional water-tightness and virtually eliminating the risk of uplift caused by high winds and heavy rains. Additionally, our deep keyways efficiently direct water away from the roof's surface, further enhancing its performance.
