How I think about this one
The concealed-fastener edge is an improvement over older stone-coated panels that screwed through the face. It is still an overlapping system that manages water after it gets under the panel. Good on a simple roof at 3/12 or steeper; I would steer you away on a cut-up one.
What it costs, and why
Installed, most CF Shake roofs we put on land between $1,350–$1,850 per square. A square is 100 square feet of roof, and that figure includes tearing off one layer of shingles.
Where yours lands depends on the roof more than the product. A second layer to tear off, soft decking we only find once the old roof is open, a steep pitch, and a lot of valleys, dormers, chimneys and skylights all push it up. A simple, walkable roof with one layer sits near the low end.
This is a range, not a quote. I would not give you a real number without seeing the roof, and I would be careful with anyone who does. If the up-front number is the whole question, how a metal roof costs out over thirty years is the better place to start.
